It’s Back To School Time

Back to school can be an exciting time for both parents and children. However, there are pieces of the process that can be stressful to all - such as, navigating fears and anxieties, rules and routines, social interactions, and ensuring kids have everything they need for the first day.

COVID has also added additional stressors and anxieties surrounding the back to school process and can make this time of year more overwhelming than usual.

A few tips and strategies to help support your family through this annual Back to school transition:

  1. Take care of yourself mentally and physically

  2. Incorporate resiliency strategies, such as, problem solving and conflict resolution skills, mindfulness techniques, etc. into your child’s toolbox

  3. Identify support systems that you and/or your child(ren) can rely on when in need

  4. Establish routines and rules with your child(ren) that will be implemented during the school year

  5. Reach out for extra support if needed!

While this time can be exciting, it is perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed and worried. If you or your family are looking to add new coping strategies to your toolbox, kindly reach out to schedule a brief consultation to see how you can best be supported during this transition.
